This, DC Metro, MARTA...the aesthetic of subways built in the 70s-80s are chef's kiss. The guy who worked on the neon was Stephen Antonakos. He's done neon work for stations in Los Angeles (Pershing Square), Detroit (Greektown), Athens, Exchange Place in Jersey City, and Charles Center in Baltimore as shown here. He's also done work for Hartsfield Jackson Airport and for a power station in Tel Aviv. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Philippines. He died at age 86 back in 2013.
Fuck it, throw in the Buffalo light rail. University station also has a work of his, and I believe some other stations do as well.
make it 70s-2000s because the LA Metro subways and the Tren Urbano have this same aesthetic
BART is another one of those space-age metros. It's the DC Metro's twin sister on the West Coast. They're going for a similar-ish aesthetic with these brightly colored lights. It actually looks pretty cool. All the bare brutalist concrete actually looks pretty cool backlit in blue and red.
CDMX metro stations are a vibe. Look like a spaceship some of them
I know it’s overbuilt, but it still looks awesome
I am deeply offended by how Baltimore didn't get the metro it needed.
But I am even more offended by how short this video is. 20 seconds? This needs to be 20 hours!
I'll make another one when I go back and film more eventually haha
Baltimore has a lot of potential. Such a great city
A lot of potential, to be the crime capital of the world.
every metro system that uses the Budd Universal Transit Vehicle or similar has this aesthetic
Fun fact: Most baltimore metro stations play MTA's own radio station over the speakers, WTTZ 93.5, featuring smooth jazz and traffic reports. Charles center (the station shown here) also has unique train arrival chimes. Both the radio and chimes can be heard in this video: ruclips.net/video/anLOVvfcQNE/видео.html
I NEED a full version
I wish the Baltimore metro was *slightly* more usable: even though service is relatively reliable and frequent it has just abysmal connectivity with the light rail, regional rail, and intercity rail, and its handful of stations are usually surrounded by parking craters. Plus the company on trains often isn't great: it's crazy how many times I've been in cars with people smoking, something that didn't happen even once in the years I rode the DC metro.
Ah well, I still go out of my way to ride it.

What could've been...
🦀🦀🦀 Baltimore shall rise
Honestly didn't even know we had a metro lol, only thing I knew about was the light rail
Baltimore could be great but Maryland would rather spend money on DC.
@@davidsixtwo You do realize that Maryland does not control DC right? You also realize that part of the issue with Baltimore has been the white flight, yeah? And yes, it is a white flight. A shrinking population tends to have negative effects no matter where you live.
@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty There's no year that the Baltimore Metro Area shrank in population since 1950, it's simply a matter of the wealth of the area being segregated out of the city itself. That disinvestment caused and causes the white flight. Instead of addressing that, Maryland spends money around DC.
@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty I think hes referring to the Purple line
That is a beautiful station
Moment of silence for all us Americans who have yet to ride any train. It looks fun.
It is!
least used metro in the states
After watching Stranger Things, I have listed to more Kate Bush than I ever thought I would and now we have gone full circle and Alan is posting “Running Up That Hill”… …we must be in a simulation!
Now this is a vibe
